Her relationship with Ikem symbolizes a classless society where there is connection between the poor and the highly educated. I didn’t dislike this book; it had a lot to reveal about the problems facing post-colonial African societies. Like Agatha and Sunday, Silvanus belongs to the lower class society. Though manipulative, it is a asvannah that teaches us to question our very instincts, and stays with us beyond just the reading of the novel. Anthills is definitely the weakest of the bunch.

One of the best books from Africa that I have read in a long while. In order to pacify him, Achebf tries to divert Chris’s attention to the need to reconcile with his friend and subordinate, Ikem. It’s a book that needs to be re-read and read slowly, methodically.
