Internal circuit protection includes thermal shutdown with hysteresis, under-voltage lockout UVLO and crossover-current protection. Flyback diodes are required to prevent voltage spikes when the power to the coil is turned off and the stepper motor acts like a generator briefly back-emf. The EasyDriver has an on board voltage regulator aloegro the digital interface that can be set to 5V or 3.
A and B are the two coils of the motor, and can swap the wllegro wires for a given coil it will just reverse the direction of the motor.

The ASLB is a complete microstepping motor driver with built-in translator. They will not have as much torque as bipolar motors due to thinner wire with a higher electrical resistance used in the coils bifilar windings.

This EasyDriver a33967 been co-designed with Brian Schmalz. This will cause permanent damage to the A chip. This is the power input to the Easy Driver. The ASLB includes a fixed off-time current regulator that has the ability to operate in slow, fast, or mixed current-decay modes. The tabs are at ground potential and need no insulation.

The microstep select MS1 and MS2 pins of the A are broken out allowing adjustments to the microstepping resolution. These digital inputs control the microstepping mode.
Bipolar stepper, requires 2 full H-bridges! Allegfo sleep and enable pins are also broken out for further control. They are all connected together inside the board. Bipolar stepper motors always have only 4 wires. This normally high input signal will minimize power consumption by disabling internal circuitry and the output drivers when pulled low.
